David Higgs - Lawyer Attorney Portland, Oregon

David Higgs fights for your rights against discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, and more.

What He Fights For

David Higgs is a plaintiff-side employment attorney at Workplace Law PDX, where he represents employees in discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, and other unlawful employment practice claims.

What Drives Him

David began his legal career clerking for several judges of the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon, an experience that gave him an insider’s perspective of how judges hear and decide cases. He graduated from the University of Oregon School of Law in 2011 and has been in civil practice representing plaintiffs in employment and civil rights matters since 2021.

David built his practice around holding employers accountable. Too often, employees facing discrimination, retaliation, or unlawful treatment at work are up against employers with far greater financial resources.

In addition to litigation, David regularly helps clients review and negotiate severance agreements and guides workers through difficult transitions in their employment, making sure they understand their rights and don’t leave value on the table when they need it most.

David is dedicated to providing attentive, responsive client service, treating every case, and every client, as the priority it deserves to be.

I was very nervous to begin discussions with an attorney about the gender-based pay equity discrimination that I was experiencing in the workplace. Ashley Marton turned out to be exactly the legal professional I was looking for — an attorney who was very easy to work with, highly communicative, approachable, and a true partner in my lawsuit. I worked with her regularly over several years as our lawsuit gradually moved through the system. Ashley always answered my questions and maintained a clear focus and direction for all our actions. She prepared me well for a smooth deposition. Ultimately, she brought the case to a reasonable settlement with my employer. It is my hope that this pay equity case will be part of an ever-increasing body of legal pressure that will help support professional women in the decades to come, and I appreciate Ashley’s big-picture thinking on the social justice contribution that lawsuits such as mine can make.
